McHenry County is proud to be home to more than 430 veterans. The Veteran Service Office is dedicated to assisting veterans, their survivors, and dependents. Our office provides guidance throughout the process of applying for benefits to which individuals may be entitled to or eligible for, through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies.

We assist with inquiries and applications related to compensation, pensions, and other veterans’ benefits. Burial benefit assistance is available to the survivors of veterans. Widows and widowers may be eligible for certain state benefits and, in limited cases, federal benefits, and our office is available to assist them as well.

We adhere to a strict Code of Ethics to protect your privacy. All services are provided at no charge to veterans and their dependents.
